Former Members of GHOST Team Up To Create Industrial Metal Cyber-Sorcery

Safe to say folks, I'm pretty excited. Checked my emails a few minutes ago and was both astonished and thrilled to have been sent a single by industrial metal powerhouses PRIEST. I immediately had to jump on the blog and write this review, so strap in folks, it's going to be a fun one.

For those who aren't aware, PRIEST have a brand new album coming out in the next few weeks featuring multiple former members and alumni of the awesome GHOST. Otherwise known as one of the best and biggest metal acts in the scene today. While GHOST draw on bands such as the Misfits for inspiration, PRIEST sounds like something that would be on the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack. Say what you want about that game, but the tunes on that are all bangers.

As a lover of all things bass, the vibe for this single "Blacklisted" is truly heart pounding, blood pumping, fist punching energy. A hypnotically violent synth bass drives the track forward while the growling vocalist brings the thunder. The influence of the GHOST alumni is clearly heard with the accents in the verse, but PRIEST is adding the addition of Mick Gordon style bass lines to create a cyber-metal concoction only the best of the musical wizards we know as metalheads can achieve.

The song is short and sweet, which is unusual for metal, but very much appreciated by a lowly punk such as myself. Playing what the song needs is so important and PRIEST have the skill to know not to go overboard. Performances are all stellar as I would expect from musicians of this calibre. I'm used to telling bands I can't review them because they are out of key or something so it's a very happy day for me that I get to write about such brilliant artists.

Ordinarily I would try and leave a spot in the review for critique, but "Blacklisted" does everything it needs to do and gets you moving. These bands exist to play live, and I'd kill to hear this track in a tent at Download Festival. Make it happen PRIEST! Check out "Blacklisted" via the link below and check out the album "Body Machine" when it releases on July 15th.

Peace, Love & Cowbells,

Oscar
